Staff
Elizabeth Davis, has over 10 years experience in a small business performing the controller and CFO functions. While attending the University of Northern Iowa, Davis was employed by Short’s Travel Management as a Cost Accountant. Upon graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 1998 with a BA in Accounting, she began working as an Assistant Auditor at the State of Iowa Auditors office. In September 1999, she returned to Short’s Travel Management as a Cost Accountant. She worked to refine the cost accounting system that she had originally designed as an intern. In 2001 Short’s Travel acquired Passport Travel more than doubling the company’s size. At this point she was promoted to Controller/CFO. Elizabeth Davis has since managed the accounting department which grew to a total of 4.5 FTE, including herself. Davis also has been part of the Executive Team at Short’s Travel, which has served as a strategic planning and steering team for the company.
In 2009 Elizabeth Davis transitioned away from Short’s Travel Management and launched Davis CPA Solutions, LLC where she is a sole proprietor providing accounting solutions for small businesses and individuals.
Elizabeth Davis earned her BA in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa in 1998. She is both CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certified. In 2000 Elizabeth Davis became a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. She has served in several board positions in the local Des Moines Chapter since becoming a member. The local Chapter holds monthly technical meetings where members are able to network with peers as well as participate in an educational session earning CPE credits. Davis is currently serving as Chapter President for the years 2008 – 2010.
